Studies show
that schoolchildren who receive music instruction are consistently
more advanced in reading and math skills when compared to their
classmates with no musical experience.
— Houston Independent School District
Singing, dancing, acting and painting are fun. They also build
analytic and creative thinking skills in children, encourage teamwork
and promote self-discipline, which transfer to other areas of school,
life and work. Whether painting a picture or figuring out a new
dance, children learn to experiment and explore new ways to see
and respond to the world around them. Often music, poetry, painting
and dance reach at-risk children and others difficult to engage
positively. The arts help children develop important skills and
often change their lives.
